Cancellation & No-Show Policy – FAQs

Why is Desert Sage enforcing this policy? 
To reduce missed appointments and improve access to care for all patients.

When does this policy start? 
July 1, 2025.

How do I cancel my appointment? 
Call (208) 587-3988 at least 24 hours in advance (excluding weekends). Leave a voicemail with your name, date of birth, and appointment date if needed.

What counts as a no-show? 
Any appointment not canceled at least 24 business hours ahead of time.

What happens if I miss appointments?
1st No-Show: You’ll receive a message or letter reminding you of the policy.
2nd No-Show: You’ll receive another reminder.
3rd No-Show (within 12 months): You’ll be placed on same-day-only scheduling for 12 months, which may result in longer waits and limited availability.

Why is this important? 
No-shows take away opportunities for other patients. Your cooperation helps everyone receive care when they need it.

Yes -Desert Sage is open to all people. We serve the entire community.

Does Desert Sage take insurance?
Yes -Desert Sage is a preferred provider with most insurance carriers.

Does Desert Sage provide a sliding fee scale for those who qualify for one?
Yes -Desert Sage does provide a sliding fee scale for those who qualify. A minimum payment is due at the time of check-in. Any additional charges are collected at check-out. If you require a payment arrangement, please contact Patient Accounts prior to your visit.

Is Desert Sage a government run agency?
No -Desert Sage is not a government run agency but is a private not for profit corporation.

Does Desert Sage accept donations?
Yes -Desert Sage is a private not-for-profit 501(c)3 and can accept donations.

Is Desert Sage fully funded by the Federal government?
No – Only 42% of the Desert Sage annual operating budget comes from federal funds.

Is Desert Sage for Spanish speaking clients only?
No – Desert Sage is open to all people regardless of preferred language.
