Overview

Since 1982, Glenns Ferry Health Center, Inc. dba Desert Sage Health Centers has delivered quality care for communities in Elmore and Owyhee Counties. Desert Sage Health Centers was incorporated and has grown its primary and behavioral health care services adding dental services in 2004 to meet the needs of the communities. Desert Sage Health Centers is a non-profit private corporation, governed by a Board of Directors who volunteer their time and effort to make quality health care available to all. Desert Sage Health Centers health center sites are FTCA Deemed Health Care facilities. The corporation consists of three health center sites:

Desert Sage Health Centers site in Glenns Ferry, Idaho is home to the corporation. Operations began in 1982, bringing health care services where none existed. The health center is equipped with state-of-the-art digital X-ray and Heliport pad for Life Flight.

Desert Sage Health Centers satellite site in Grand View opened in  1984. The building was purchased and remodeled in 1992, with further exterior and interior improvements made in 2010.

Desert Sage Health Centers Mountain Home site opened in April 1998. In 2004, a larger facility was built allowing DSHC to expand primary care services, adding dental and expanded behavioral health access services. Desert Sage Health Centers completed a new expansion and renovation in 2014 at the Mountain Home facility allowing increased access of care to the community.

Desert Sage health Centers continually strives to serve the entire family. Desert Sage Health Centers believes in patient-focused care delivered through a caring team of competent and caring health care professionals. As a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH),  Desert Sage Health Centers prides itself in the quality of care it delivers to more than 8,000 annual patients at three health center site locations. Our integrated system emphasizes prevention, healthy living and is designed to reduce health care disparities and avoid unnecessary trips to emergency rooms or other more costly forms of care.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE/PHILOSOPHY
Based on the belief that access to quality health care is a basic human right, and that the quality of life in our communities can be improved through perseverance and working together to provide compassionate services to all those in need, Desert Sage Health Centers strives to enable all persons in reaching their full potential as human beings.

MISSION
Desert Sage Health Centers provides quality health care to all persons without regard to geographic, economic, or cultural barriers. The health center will continue to address the changing needs of our community by improving and expanding services. With community commitment, the health center will become a dynamic force ensuring a better life for the people we serve.

This is to notify you that under Federal law relating to the operation of community health centers, the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), (See 28 U.S.C. §§ 1346 (b), 2671-80) provides the exclusive remedy for damage from personal injury, including death, resulting from performance of medical, surgical, dental, or related functions by any Desert Sage Health Centers practitioner who the Department of Health and Human Services has deemed to be an employee of the Public Health Service. This FTCA medical malpractice coverage applies to deemed health care practitioners who have provided a required or authorized service under Title XIX of the Social Security Act (ii.e., Medicaid Program) at a Heritage Health site or through offsite programs or events carried out by Heritage Health (see 42 U.S.C. § 233(a), (o)).
